Port Macquarie festival lineup announced

Port Macquarie will once again play host to the unique and exciting family event that is the Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival.

Westport Park will once again be transformed into a beer and cider haven, with food trucks, games arena, and the inaugural King and Queen of the Festival. After the amazing support from over 2000 people in 2016, Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival is coming back for more and will be run from the new times of 1pm through to 7:30pm on Saturday September 23rd. Come down and partake in the festive atmosphere designed to celebrate all the good things in life; beer, cider, food, games and music.

The event will offer something for everyone, bringing together some of the best of Australia’s beer and cider makers, set against the serene backdrop of the spectacular Hastings River, perfect for locals and tourist alike. A special bus timetable will ensure attendees can enjoy the afternoon of tastings without having to worry about driving home.

‘This years event will showcase a spectacular mixing pot of brews with over fifty different flavours of beers and ciders, representing both local and Australian-wide brewers.” said Festival Director Jason Clifton.

“It’s a great opportunity for the Port Macquarie community to get amongst the rapidly trending craft beer and cider craze and see the passion poured into each glass by incredibly enthusiastic brewers.”

The Brews…

Returning for another year are brewers such as
Young Henrys, MooreBeer, Stone , Franks Cider, Hops and Tales, Pirate Life, Pagan Cider, Mountain Goat, and New England Brewing Co, with further announcements to be made.

The Bands…

Blues legends and one of the best live acts in the country, Chase The Sun will headline this years event along with the amazing Claude Hay, Barrell House, Benje Travis & Chris Rose.

A special mention and definitely something not to miss are local legends Barrel House, who are dusting off their instruments and coming out of retirement for a special one off performance.

The event…

While Westport Park will be transformed into a bustling festival and hangout vibe, the most exciting part of the day will the return of the Mid North Coast Beer Keg Toss! Inspired by the long tradition of the Highland Games, the Beer Keg Toss relies on a combination of technique, timing and pure muscle to succeed. This year it is coupled with the “Keg Roll” and all new “Thong Throw”, forming the Triathlon de Festival. Competitor’s scores will be added across the three disciplines, judging strength, speed, agility, and accuracy, culminating in the crowning of the Festival King and Queen.

Competitors should pre-register via the website, as places will be limited and only a small amount of unreserved slots will be available on the day.

Families will be enchanted by the relaxed atmosphere that this pop up outdoor beer garden presents.
 
While brewers jostle for bragging rights, Port Macquarie beer lovers will be in heaven as the town embraces a festival to celebrate the amber drop. There’s bound to be something new to discover, even for the most experienced palate.

The family event will feature gourmet food market stalls, games and live music. The games area will be bursting with activities to keep kids of all ages entertained with a giant slide, Bocce set up, giant Jenga, plus lots more.The Port Macquarie Beer and Cider Festival will kick off at 1pm and go through until 7.30pm.
