Eumundi Brewery gets back underway

Lion has completed the resurrection of Eumundi Brewery, which is back on tap at its original home of the Imperial Hotel Eumundi on Queensland’s Sunshine Coast.

The brewery was officially relaunched on Friday August 25 following Lion’s recent installation of a 12-hectolitre brewhouse and seven fermenters at the pub, in partnership with its current owners.

The first two beers are an updated version of Eumundi Lager, which was the brewery’s flagship in its previous iteration, and a mid-strength pale ale.

Head brewer Chris Sheehan told Brews News that Eumundi joins a strong craft beer community on the Sunshine Coast, which now has a total of 13 small breweries.

He said the brewery will trial the packaging of its beers using Gympie-based mobile canning company, Craft Punks.

The cans will be sold over the bar at the Imperial as well as at the renowned Eumundi Markets.

“We’ll now start looking at our first seasonal beer, a Ginger Pale Ale, which should be a heap of fun partnering with local ginger growers,” said Sheehan.

Brewery openings are presented by Spark Breweries and Distilleries, the finest in-venue and production brewing systems available, with local design and support.
