This week on Radio Brews News, Pete Mitcham and Matt Kirkegaard discuss the beer news of the week including:
- Queensland’s plan to create a craft beer strategy
- Independent Brewers Association announces BrewCon 2018
- We also ask whether bland beer is here to stay and what it means if it is, especially with an increasing number of craft brewers releasing crisp, pale lagers.
We’d especially love to hear your thoughts about this week’s show and so have a Goose Island Gift Pack that Pete bought at Goose Island’s recent Pink Boots fundraiser to give away to the best email this week, with Brew News bottle openers for every email received.

I recently brought some Kooinda pale ale in bottles from a newly opened bottle shop nearby.
Chilled the beers and proceeded to drink. Off beer, checked the bottled date – December 16 Tried another same result. Whilst being a trap for young players a new bottle shop does not guarantee fresh produce. I assumed that this was the fault of the chain of bottle shops with old stock.
I approached the brewery explained the situation and was greeted with yes that was old stock we got rid of. I explained it tasted like shit but was met with a shrug of the shoulders. To me this is not the way to keep custom. I have been a follower of their beers from its inception.
I forgive and forget but there are many who would not and it is something I hope is not creeping in to the craft beer scene.
PS. I have no problem with their recently canned beer
