Australia’s most-established gluten free beer producer O’Brien Beer, is celebrating another milestone with its June release of the first naturally brewed 100 per cent gluten free stout made in Australia.

O’Brien Stout is the latest in the diverse range of brews by O’Brien Beer, giving consumers the chance to enjoy their favourite drink minus the gluten.

John O’Brien, himself a coeliac, began brewing gluten free beer as a hobby but it wasn’t long before it became a fully-fledged business, Rebellion Brewing (founded in 2005).

All beers in the O’Brien range are brewed using sorghum and millet, instead of the usual barley and wheat, making O’Brien Beer 100 per cent gluten free and free from any colourings or preservatives.

As a leader in the development and production of quality gluten free beers both locally and internationally, O’Brien has redefined the traditional concept of beer, ensuring it is drinkable for everyone.

O’Brien Stout is a full-bodied Irish Stout with a light sweetness. It has a deep ruby/black colour with a tan head. Specially roasted sorghum and millet malts provide an aroma of roast coffee and rich chocolate flavour. A full, creamy mouth feel gives way to a roasty bitterness with a light sweetness. It is a naturally brewed 100 per cent gluten free beer at 5.3 per cent and is an ideal beverage for the cooler months.

John O’Brien said, “With the introduction of the only 100 per cent gluten free stout produced in Australia, we continue to innovate and provide gluten free beer options equal to any other barley based beer options.”

O’Brien Stout is now available online and will soon be rolled out to bottle shops and venues across Australia. Through O’Brien Beer, the producer has redefined the traditional concept of beer, and is committed to continually developing and producing quality gluten free beers for the Australian market.
