Independent Brisbane brewery Newstead Brewing Co has announced a new partnership with Tommy Gun’s Original Barbershop Australia.

The partnership will see three Newstead canned beers and one apple cider, ranged exclusively at all seven Tommy Gun’s locations across Queensland. Since moving to Australia, Tommy Gun’s has rapidly expanded and now has 14 locations country-wide.

Newstead Brand and Marketing Manager Darren Magin said that the synergies between the two businesses were a major contributor to joining forces.

“Knowing and understanding the family values behind the Tommy Gun’s brand was key for Newstead when initially discussing the partnership,” Magin said.

“Newstead is a small family business and there was an instant bond with Tommy Gun’s.”

“To see our beers and cider in the hands of Tommy Gun’s customer base gives us a real buzz.”

“I’m confident that many may have already heard of Newstead Brewing Co but now they have the opportunity to drink one during the amazing experience that these barbershops provide.”

Having participated in a Beers, Burgers, Bants & Barbers event at a Tommy Gun’s shop recently, Magin said that Newstead is relishing the opportunity to do more surrounding beereducation in stores.

“We jumped at the chance to execute some simple beer education through sample tasting with Tommy Gun’s at Garden City. The evening was a huge success, which combined casual food and of course, the chance to chat to the barbers.”

Magin said that there’s always room for learning, especially where beer is concerned.

Tommy Gun’s Marketing Manager Roxy Diversi, was equally happy to see Newstead’s cans grace the barbershop’s shelves.

“As a Brisbane-based brand, Newstead was the perfect fit for Tommy Gun’s,” Diversi said.

“Their diverse (and equally delicious) range of beers and ciders meant that our customers can have a variety of choice when selecting their complementary beverage with a service.”

“It’s important that ‘local support local’ and we’re proud to support Newstead Brewing Co and stock their beers in the hope that we can grow and create brand awareness together.”

Newstead’s 3 Quarter Time Session Ale, The Mayne Thing Golden Ale, Out & a’Bout Pale Ale and Johnno Apple Cider are now available to customers in these Tommy Gun’s locations:Westfield North Lakes, Sunshine Plaza, Westfield Chermside, Grand Central Toowoomba, Pacific Fair, Westfield Carindale and Westfield Garden City.

Brisbane’s Newstead Brewing Co was first built in an old 1940s steel warehouse on Doggett Street, Newstead. It has been brewing since 2013 with new, much larger digs on Castlemaine Street in Milton since 2017. The new brewery has a four vessel DME brewhouse, as well as a 800-litre Hopback, a Hop Doser and a 80-can-per-minute Cask canning line.

Setting out to retrieve the shine of the original barbershop that had been eroded by modern trends was Tommy Gun’s. Established in Canada in 20019, Tommy Gun’s has been seeking to reinvigorate men’s grooming and the barbershop experience of old.
