The Willie Smith’s Apple Shed took out Gold in the Tourism Wineries, Distilleries & Breweries category at the 2018 Tasmanian Tourism Awards held recently in Hobart, Tasmania.

The category win sees the cider house, distillery, eatery and apple museum go through to the national awards – the Australian Tourism Awards – which will be announced in Launceston in March next year.

“We’re ecstatic. So delighted to be recognized among such a strong field. We always strive to deliver the best experience possible for anyone coming to the Apple Shed – be it for apple pie, a cider tasting or a tour of our distillery – so it’s a great honour to be recognised.” said Cara McEwen, Venue Manager at Willie Smith’s Apple Shed.

Built in 1942 as an apple packing shed, the rustic building became the home of Willie Smith’s award-winning ciders in December 2013.

“I’m so incredibly proud of our amazing Apple Shed team, led by Cara, who consistently go above and beyond to make the Apple Shed such a great experience for everyone who comes through the door,” said Sam Reid, Co-Founder and Managing Director of Willie Smith’s Cider Makers.
