FAQ’s

WHAT IS THE HOTTEST 100 CRAFT BEERS?

Inspired by the Triple J countdown, the GABS version started back in 2008 as a bit of fun for staff and customers at renowned St Kilda craft beer bar The Local Taphouse. Since those early days, the poll has grown alongside the booming craft beer industry to become a juggernaut in its own right, with the results revealing the trends and styles shaping craft beer in any given year, and providing consumers, retailers and beer venues with valuable insights to guide their buying decisions.

WHEN ARE THE RESULTS ANNOUNCED?

Aligning with the Triple J countdown of the most popular Aussie tunes of the year, the GABS Hottest 100 Aussie Craft Beers of 2018 will be announced on the last Saturday in January (Saturday 26 January 2019), with festivities kicking off at 12pm at events all around Australia.

IS MY BREWERY TOO SMALL TO BE PART OF IT?

Not at all. The whole idea of the poll is to allow craft beer lovers the opportunity to vote for their favourite beers, whether they were widely available around the country, or indeed limited to a single keg that sold out in an hour over your taproom bar. There were over 2,000 beers listed in last year’s poll, and almost every one received votes. We know your fans will want to vote for your beers. Why disappoint them?

Not only that, it’s also a great opportunity to put your brand and range in front of thousands of potential new fans as they search the voting form for their favourite beers. And you know what… in addition to the main Hottest 100 list, we also release the Hottest Indie Beers, Hottest New Beers, and Hottest Next Beers (101-200). You never know where your beers might land!

WHICH BEERS DO I REGISTER?

All Australian craft beers that were sold commercially in keg, can or bottle from 1 January 2018, including core range and limited edition releases, are eligible, and we ask you to register all of them.

CAN I ENCOURAGE OUR FANS TO VOTE FOR US?

Definitely. We have even put together a range of logos, posters, social media images and copy for your use here. We would encourage you to engage your fan base any way you can and get them voting. There’s only one golden rule in that no breweries can offer incentives for voting. This is to ensure an even playing field across the industry.
