Two Birds Nominated for Telstra Business Awards

With International Women’s Day just around the corner, Two Birds Brewing’s Danielle Allen has been named as a Victorian state finalist in the Telstra Business Women’s Awards.

The Awards, which have been a key supporter and promoter of women in business for almost 25 years, recognise outstanding women doing great things in small, medium and large businesses across the country.

Danielle says it’s an honour to be named among such a select group, especially as women become more prominent in the growing craft beer industry.

“My business partner Jayne Lewis and I have worked really hard for seven years to stand tall in the beer industry, not only as women, but as champions of good beer.

“I’m blown away to have made it to the finals and for that hard work to have been recognised by the business community at large.”

The nomination is timely, with Two Birds Brewing – Australia’s first female-owned brewery – also announcing the release of a beer in honour of International Women’s Day on March 8.

warrior-women-decalWarrior Woman is a bold and confident IPA featuring Warrior and Topaz hops, designed to represent the strength of women, coupled with a delicate addition of fresh guava. The keg-only release will also feature a special collector’s edition decal for each venue, accented with distinctive golden wings.

Brewing something specifically in honour of women was a natural fit for the Two Birds team, Brewer Bird Jayne Lewis says.

“It came out of a whole team discussion, which is a perfect representation of what International Women’s Day is all about. It’s our way of supporting and being proud of all women, especially those who have helped carve the way for others.

It will be available at numerous International Women’s Day events across the country next week, including at The Two Birds Nest in Spotswood, VIC. Attendees at the Nest will be able to try the new IPA, alongside an International Women’s Day collaboration sour with Thirsty Crow Brewery from Wagga Wagga, NSW.

Brewer Bird Jayne Lewis will also be leading a sensory masterclass, taking attendees through the new beers and how to pair beer with different flavours.

Tickets are available via Eventbrite here.

Danielle will join the other state finalists at the Telstra Business Women’s Awards evening on Thursday 14 March, where the winners will be announced.
