This week Matt chats with Phillip Rankmore, Head Brewer at South Korea’s Budnamu Brewery in Gangneung.

Phil was at the recent SEA Brew Conference in Bangkok and he told a fascinating story that took him from volunteering to do work experience under Dave Padden at Riverside Brewing in Sydney, to Berlin, and then to getting a job as brewer during a two-day layover in Seoul on the very day that brewing was legalised in South Korea.

This was followed by him starting up the Korean Goose Island Brewery and also growing his own rice to make beer.
