Gulf Brewery started as a dream in 2003. In early 2005 we bought our equipment and started out first trial batches and launched late in 2005. The time has come after 14 years to pass the baton on to someone new and contemplate retirement.
Gulf Brewery has its Cellar Door in Hahndorf in the Adelaide Hills, which is one of the highest foot traffic areas in the state. The Cellar Door has a large amount of business from bus groups on the weekends as well as walk-in traffic.
We have never grown large and mainly focused on the retail side of trade from Hahndorf. There is a significant opportunity for someone to take over the business and increase distribution as well as move to a full brewpub/restaurant style outlet.
The Cellar Door is licensed to seat 125 persons which includes the verandah and beer garden areas. We currently run 9 taps for our beer and cider as well as some bottle product as well as wine.
You can view a virtual walk-though of our Cellar Door here.
We are licensed under a Producers license which allows us to sell our own beers and ciders for takeaway as well as any alcohol on the premises. Also, we can sell wine for takeaway if we wish, as long as it is made to our specifications and recipe. There is a new licensing regime coming into effect in November that will let us sell any alcohol for takeaway sales as long as it is above a set volume.
The brewery itself is located in the southern suburbs of Adelaide and the main brewery plant is:
- 16hl kettle (timber clad)
- 2 x 12hl fermenters (timber clad)
- 1 x 20hl mash tun (timber clad)
- 9 x BBT ranging from 1200 to 1450 litres
- 3 head keg washer
- 6 head inline fully automatic bottling line
- Automatic labeller
- 80 x 50-litre kegs
- Cartons / 6 pack holders / labels
