Balter supports Queensland hospitality workers with The Big Slab

Gold Coast’s Balter Brewing Company is getting behind a campaign to support local hospitality workers hard hit by the effects of COVID-19 and boost Queensland tourism.

And there’s a chance to win 100 slabs of free Balter beer too.

The campaign kicked off with Balter co-founder and surf legend Mick Fanning launching The Big Slab, a new tourist attraction to draw attention to fight to rejuvenate the state’s tourist economy.

All money raised through the sale of Balter merchandise will go to the Australian Hospitality Relief Fund Tipjar which is focused on feeding, housing, employing, upskilling and supporting the food and beverage industry.

Patrons will also be encouraged to give a tip to Tipjar for every good meal, good drink, good service and good time experienced. Tipjar was set up by the folks at Worksmith (https://worksmith.io/) who are the trusted source for all COVID-19 support and resources for the Australian Hospitality Industry.

The Big Slab can’t be missed – rising proudly on the M1 at Yatala.

“We’re proud Queenslanders and The Big Slab follows our proud Australian tradition of putting massive things by the side of the road,” explains Stirling Howland, brand director at Balter.

“We were looking for a light-hearted way to draw attention to the serious issue of COVID-19 flow-in issues affecting the hospitality industry we all love so much.

“A lot of people are saying The Big Slab is just a picture of a slab on a billboard, and we say to those people come down and see for yourself, just please don’t look at it from the side.’’

Balter is also giving away 100 slabs of beer for the first 100 people who take a selfie with The Big Slab and post it on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter tagging @balterbrewers.
