Participating Breweries, Beers & Impact

Local Brewing Co. – On What Grounds Coffee Porter 6.1% ABV: Have you ever craved your beer and coffee in one? We have teamed up with our mates at Veneziano Coffee Roasters to bring you this bold roast with hints of almonds, dark chocolate and caramel using 20kg of their crave coffee bean roast. Words can’t espresso how well vanilla and lactose round this porter out.

At Local Brewing Co. creating a positive social impact for the community is core to their brand and purpose. For every pack or pint sold, they provide a meal to someone in need through their partnership with SecondBite. A partnership that amounted to over 40,000 meals since their inception.

Hawkers – Beneath The Trees Yuzu & Plum Kettle Sour 7% ABV: Our plum and yuzu kettle sour is an absolute delight, with explosive bursts of flavour and a sense of the Orient. This beer is as complex as it is delicious, combining sweet juicy plums with zesty, citrusy yuzu.

We’ve installed the largest solar array on a brewery in metropolitan Melbourne, which is a big claim! However, if there’s a bigger one out there, then all we can say is that it is well done for helping our environment! We additionally reduced our electrical consumption by swapping old, incandescent light bulbs with highly efficient LEDs. Our skylights and large windows increased the amount of natural light, keeping the lights turned off until the night shift rolls in. The two malt silos outside our brewery each hold 27 tons of base malt that we have delivered in bulk from just 20km down the road, saving both fuel and an astounding 1,080 mesh bags each time we fill just one of our silos. It also means that we save 1,080 bag carrying trips for our brewers. Once we’ve used the malt in a brew, Farmers John and Dave take away our spent grain to feed their hungry Angus herds. This beer-brewing byproduct is often dumped by many breweries, but instead Hawkers’ spent grain is providing a no-cost nourishment to happy, healthy cows in a true win-win for everyone. Part of operating a successful brewery is maintaining stringent and meticulous cleanliness. Our clean-in-place procedures recycle and reuse our water, and as Australia is only ever just around the corner from another drought, having these systems in place allows us to consume less water. 98% of our rubbish is recycled, and we hope to make that 100%. The path to sustainability may not be easy, but we are committed to give it our best.

Brewmanity – Tango & Splash Juicy Lager 5.1% ABV: Traditional Lager, Modern flavour! With refreshment at the heart of this brew, we have replaced traditional bitterness with a delicious stone-fruit flavour that gently washes over the back palate. Winner Silver medal AIBA.

Together we make a difference. Inspired by their mate who was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease, a couple of beer loving guys launched a brew in 2015 to raise funds and support their mate’s cause. Since then they have raised over $275,000 for the cause. A part of every beer sold goes back to support the Fight MND foundation

Ocean Reach Brewing – Hazy Pineapple IPA 6% ABV: “Pineapple Haze, all in my brain. Cashmere & Azacca hops, they don’t feel the same.” This 6% full flavoured, Hazy IPA has a rounded mouthfeel, double dry hopped with Azacca & Cashmere gives this beauty a massive tropical hit, but it’s the pineapple that makes me say, “excuse me while I kiss the sky”…

Our aim is to provide the gold standard in the craft beer experience. We take sustainability seriously. From production to the very first sip, we take every measure to ensure that our carbon footprint and our water usage is minimised. All spent grain is shared with local farmers for

livestock, and the utmost care is taken to ensure that our contributions to landfill are inconsequential. Our brewery is solar powered using 49 Trina 330w panels powering a Fronius Symo 15kW Inverter.
