An artist gets the can-vas! After the success of the first Art Series in 2019, Newstead Brewing has partnered with QAGOMA and local Brisbane artist Stephen Mok for the second instalment of the Art Series, with Mok’s vibrant, sunny artwork adorning the can.

Newstead Brewing has always been passionate about art. Our Doggett St brewpub was previously ‘Doggett Street Studio’, of which Stephen Mok is in fact an alum.

Stephen Mok’s work is a brilliant ray of colour that catches the eye and then makes you look twice. Inspired by the vibrant and exuberant character of the art, our brewers have created this special beer “Sunshine Sour” to make it a tasty representation of Stephen’s vivid artwork.

A bright splash that catches your attention, a cavalcade of citrus and passionfruit aromas that shine from the glass and give way to a refreshing finish and then a twang that makes you look a little closer.

To celebrate our collaboration with QAGOMA & Stephen Mok, the beer and artwork will be launched with an exclusive art exhibition and party on Friday 8 October, 7.00PM at The Newstead Brewing Co Barrel Hall, 67 Castlemaine St, Milton. With a live DJ set, first access to the beer, food from our brewpubs and the opportunity to purchase exclusive Mok artwork and merchandise, this is the arty party you do not want to miss.

The beer itself will be sold at both Newstead Brewing Co’s Doggett St & Castlemaine St locations via cans, cartons and on tap, on premise in QAGOMA outlets and distributed to local independent and national bottle shops and venues across the state from 8 October.

We can’t wait for the partnership of beer and art to inspire a new audience to venture their tastebuds to try the Newstead Brewing Art Series.
