Indies awards contested, audit underway

The Independent Brewers Association is undertaking a thorough audit following issues raised in regards to the 2021 Australian Independent Beer Awards, known as the “Indies”.

The Indies, which were held last week, saw a number of brewers being awarded state Champion trophies, as well as medals for individual beers.

However since then, members of the brewing industry have raised issues in regards to some of the state champion awards, and the outcomes have been contested.

As a result, the Independent Brewers Association has told members it is currently undertaking an audit of its scoring practices.

The IBA has indicated that it is hoping to have the results of this audit as soon as possible, and stakeholders will be notified of the results of the investigation once it is complete.
