This week, we chat with Annelies Nijskens and Jimmy Van Eetvelde from Madocke Brewing.

A Belgian couple, Annelies came to Australia for a school exchange at 17 and always wanted to return. The couple had an engineering firm in Belgium but Jimmy found something a little disheartening about making something well and with pride, only to have it hidden in a cupboard of behind a false wall. He decided he wanted to make beer instead. Annelies persuaded a reluctant Jimmy to up their life and move to Australia, with Jimmy only agreeing if he could make beer… the result is a Belgian brewery on Queensland’s Gold Coast.
