Future Mountain selling Reservoir brewery

Future Mountain Brewing & Blending is selling its Melbourne brewery and taproom to realise its vision of creating a true farmhouse brewing operation in rural Victoria.

The brewery, which opened in 2019, was named Champion Brewpub at the 2021 Indies.

The brewpub sits in a former mechanics shed on a 668 square metre site with 260 square metres of parking space with the venue described as an “old-meets-new farmhouse & industrial style space”.

It is well positioned with high main road exposure on busy Plenty Road on the fringe to Preston in Reservoir with public transport access with the 86 Tram and bus stops at the doorstep.

Owners Shane Ferguson and Ian Jones say its long been the dream to take Future Mountain in a rural direction.

“Given the nature of their beers, the natural evolution of the brand and the stage their young families are at, now comes the next exciting chapter,” a media release notes.

Shane is from northern Victoria and Ian’s family reside in Gippsland, allowing them to relocate and establish two brewing and blending locations that they say will focus on the different aspects of the farmhouse beer genre.

The relocation “creates a great opportunity for a fellow brewery, new entrant, or hospitality group, to move into a turn-key venue and brewery, with all the approvals and licenses in place – a process that usually takes months, or even years, to navigate. Also in the sale is the brewhouse with stainless tanks and an oak cellar,” the announcement said.

The business is being sold through Just Business Brokers and interested parties are invited to contact the agent Marc Di Genova.
