We couldn't let the Aireys Pub be bulldozed and turned in to a housing estate. Not on our shift. So we got some mates together, pitched in and bought it.
In our naivety we didn't realize that all of the iconic Australian breweries had been sold to foreign interests. So when the big wigs waltzed in and told us what beers we "had to have" in our pub, we did what all good Australian pubs should do. We told them to bugger off.
We're not interested in selling foreign beers and send our money overseas to big multinationals. It just doesn't make any sense.
