The epic Australian Beer Festival is back for a 15th year at The Australian Heritage Hotel, the original home of craft beer in The Rocks, next month.
This year is the biggest yet – more than 30 Australian brewers and 120 different craft beers and ciders for visitors to enjoy between Friday 11 and Sunday 13 October.
Gloucester and Cumberland streets come alive over the three-day festival celebrating Australian craft brewing.
The streets have a frothy line up of beer and cider brewers; gourmet food stalls; meet the brewer sessions; blind tastings; and live entertainment.
The Aussie also has rugby fans covered, across the weekend there will be a large TV screen pimped out by Feral Brewing for optimal street viewing.
Sit on a bean bag or haystack and sink some quality Aussie beers as you cheer on the Wallabies.
Lincoln Baker, The Aussie’s General Manager, has been a part of the festival for three years and says, “It’s amazing to see how The Aussie Beer Festival has grown over 15 years.
As I understand, the first festival was a showcase of just six Sydney based breweries lined down the street for a day. Turn the clock 14 years and last year we had 38 breweries from around the country running over an epic three days.
The Aussie has always been at the forefront of beer festivals in Australia. We were the first Sydney venue to offer Little Creatures and they are now on tap in most major pubs across the country.
We’ve also worked with 4 Pines, Murrays, Stone & Wood and Endeavour since the beginning and we are still going strong! That’s what Aussie Beer Fest is all about, supporting local Aussie craft beers with the community in an epic three-day street party.”
Last year’s cashless system was a success so The Aussie will again be providing wristbands to all those who enter the festival. Top-up anytime throughout, from stations and roaming staff.
Pre-sale tickets are available now for $20 (admission and five tasters), or $40 (admission and 10 tasters) and $65 (express entry, 10 tasters, Beer Fest T-shirt and lanyard stubby cooler).
For those who still prefer to use cash, internal bars will take all payments the old-fashioned way.
The frothy line-up includes local favourites Grifter (Marrickville), Philter (Marrickville), Young Henrys (Newtown), and Endeavour Brewing (The Rocks) and plenty more.
Top favourites nationwide include Feral Brewing (Perth), Stone & Wood (Byron Bay) and Pirate Life (South Australia).
Enjoy a fresh cold brew in the outdoor beer garden on Gloucester Street, perfect for basking in the sun.
For those who aren’t here just for the beer, gourmet food stalls are serving up a variety of street party essentials including tacos, cheeseburgers, falafel burger, prawn dumplings and an Aussie ice cream sandwich.
The oyster bar from the guys at Seabreeze Beach Hotel South West Rocks is always a crowd favourite and back again this year.
‘Meet the Brewer’ sessions return offering a chance to get to know your favourite brew. The line-up includes Young Henrys, Akasha, Modus, Grifter and more.
To keep the party vibes in check this year, The Aussie Beer Fest hosts live entertainment by bands and DJs from 4pm-10pm on Friday, 12pm-9.30pm on Saturday, and 12pm-7pm on Sunday.
For those who like to be the brewer, the ‘Do You Brew?’ competition returns for another year. Register online and deliver your brews for judging by Akasha Brewing experts by 30 September.
The winner has the chance to collaborate with Akasha Brewing and have their own brew poured on tap at The Aussie.
