Having been a hit with locals in 2019, Howard Smith Wharves are bringing back their popular Beers on the Lawn event for the second time in February.
Held on Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 February from 4pm – 10pm on the East, Main and Rivershed Lawns, the annual Beers on the Lawn event brings together local brewers and tastemakers, including Howard Smith Wharves’ very own Felons Brewing Co., to showcase the region’s best beer and cider.
With live artwork, family-friendly activities and home brew demonstrations, Beers on the Lawn is an event the whole family will love.
Set to be bigger and better in 2020, Beers on the Lawn will lead Brisbane into Brewsvegas 2020, a city-wide festival in March dedicated to celebrating good beer.
With Felons Brewing Co. having brewed a beer in collaboration with Brewsvegas, Howard Smith Wharves are inviting the community down to give it a try, along with sampling some of the region’s best beers and ciders.
Excited to be bringing back Beers on the Lawn for the second time, Adam Flaskas, Founder and Director of Howard Smith Wharves, said, “Beers on the Lawn was a great success in 2019, and we’re thrilled to welcome new and returning local breweries to Howard Smith Wharves to create a fantastic weekend event for Brisbane.”
Felons Brewing Co. will be running home brew demos across the weekend, where you can learn about the brewing process from one of Felons’ brewers. Along with Felons Brewing Co., breweries appearing at Beers on the Lawn include Moffat Beach Brewing Co., Aether Brewing, Slipstream Brewing Co., Range Brewing, Soapbox Beer, Sealegs Brewing Co., Revel Brewing Co., Helios Brewing Co., Land & Sea Brewing Co., Ballistic Beer Co., Semi-Pro Brewing Co., Your Mates Brewing Co., and Noosa Beer Co. | Land & Sea. If your preferred tipple isn’t of the brewed variety, the Art of Booze Gin, Happy Kombucha, Aperol Spritzes and minimal intervention wines from Jilly Wines, Unico Zelo, Harvest, Billy Button, Latta Vino and Cork & Co. will also be available.
For the first time, a barbeque-focused menu will feature at Beers on the Lawn, which will pair perfectly with the variety of beers on offer.
Choose from the smokehouse menu, which includes pork ribs, chicken wings, and a burger – or find a friend to help you go all out with the smoked platter, which consists of a full rack of pork ribs, smoked brisket, pickle cucumber, corn bread, fries and slaw.
With a variety of woodfired pizzas also on offer, a scoop of Goodtimes Gelato will add the finishing touch to these delicious dishes.
Influential local Brisbane artist, Claire Ritchie, will add a splash of colour to Beers on the Lawn, with live artwork being painted across the weekend.
Beers on the Lawn will also feature live music, lawn games, table tennis and a jumping castle, and being a dog-friendly event, the whole family can quite literally come along. There’s no better way to spend the weekend than sipping an icy cold beer at Beers on the Lawn.
