Sailors Grave and Wapengo Rock Oysters

July 7, 2018 @ 12:00 pm - 10:00 pm

As part of its month long celebration of all beer dark and delicious, The Local Taphouse presents Oysters² – Sailors Grave x Wapengo Rocks.

Sailors Grave ‘Law of the Tongue’ takes its inspiration from a (relatively) local legend: Old Tom, the most famous of the orcas that used to alert a whaling family on the Sapphire Coast when they were hunting baleen whales off the coast and lead them to their prey. In return, the orcas were allowed to eat their favourite bits – the lips and tongues – leaving the rest to the Davidsons. That said, there is (as far as we’re aware) no whale, orca or tongue in the beer. There are molluscs, however, in the shape of smoked Wapengo Rocks Organic Oysters.

Wapengo Rock Oysters are hand selected multi-award winning oysters are available in only select restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and regional NSW.

Wapengo Rocks offer the discerning consumer a taste experience that can be described as a unique combination of minerals, salt and delicate creaminess. The mouth feel lingers long after the oyster is gone.

This is a unique opportunity to try these amazing Oysters along side an incredible stout to which they lend their flavour.

Free entry – from midday until sold out.

Darkside of the Local will run all through July, with 8 taps dedicated to dark. From Schwarzbier to Imperial Stout, Dunkel to Belgian Dubbel, Sweet Stouts to Roasty Imperials, Brown Ales to Barleywines, Dark Sours to Black IPAs, a whole host of Barrel Aged treats – and everything in between. Full Darkside line up with more beers added constantly! All on tap!
