While it’s the Local Taphouses and the Feral Brewings that deservedly make the big noise in the craft beer movement on a national scale, the ‘craft beer revolution’ can’t really be said to have occurred until every town the size of Renmark (population approx 8000) has a Woolshed Brewery making beer and a Renmark Hotel willing to put it on. If you’re anyway near Renmark this Friday, or a customer of the Adelaide Biershop and get a chance to try this beer, let us know how it goes down.
Renmark, South Australia
Having established themselves in the Riverland with their first beer, Amazon Ale, the Woolshed Brewery has paired up with Australian Native Bush Foods, a neighbouring Wattle Seed grower, to produce a dark ale with roast wattle seed.
Brewing a simple dark ale, and adding wattle seed at the end of boil, allows the flavours of the wattle seed to come through, imparting a roast, nutty and even a dusty flavour to the beer. This makes it a perfect partner for food matching, we’ve found it a great pairing with a hearty beef stew, or a chocolate dessert.
The team at the Woolshed Brewery have produced 40 cartons of the beer so bottle availability is limited – but will send a couple of cartons (once they are ready) to the Adelaide Biershop, so those who are keen to taste the new beer but can’t make it to Renmark, are able to get their hands on it.
The beer will be launched at the Renmark Hotel front bar this Friday 19th August 6pm – all are welcome to come along to meet the team at the Woolshed Brewery, and try the first official tasting of the new offering.
Bottles available once they carbonate and are labelled!
