White Rabbit taking sours to the masses

White Rabbit Red BottleThe new White Rabbit Red is a “gateway sour”, according to head brewer Jeremy Halse, who hopes it will introduce sour beers to a broader market.

Halse told Radio Brews News that it was not his objective to create a beer exactly in the mould of a Flanders Red Ale.

“We took cues for our beer from those things… but we’re definitely not trying to make it as complex as some of those classic Belgian styles,” he said.

“It’s the right beer for what we wanted to achieve.

“I’ve been calling it our little ‘gateway sour’, or words to that effect.

“I’m very excited to get it into as many people’s hands as possible and not just this small part of the market,” Halse said.

The first beer to come from White Rabbit’s Barrel Hall program, White Rabbit Red has an ABV of 4.9 per cent and is available on tap at the venue in Geelong, along with a select number of venues in Victoria. It is also available in 750ml bottles exclusively from the White Rabbit Barrel Hall.
