Last night, Cryer Malt and Yakima Chief Hops™ presented Pink Boots Australia with a cheque for $4,380 from the sales of the 2020 Pink Boots Blend. This donation will be used to further support scholarships for women in the beer industry.
The Pink Boots Society is a global non-for-profit with a mission to assist, inspire, and encourage women to advance their careers in the brewing industry through education. Each year, during the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Pink Boots Society members meet to evaluate and select the raw hops to create the Pink Boots Blend. The 2020 blend was created from Azacca®, El Dorado®, Idaho Gem™ and Loral®, producing a hop blend with tropical, citrus and piney aromatic qualities.
This year, Cryer Malt and Yakima Chief Hops™ teamed to supply the 2020 Pink Boots Blend to Australian brewers and to directly donate the raised funds to Pink Boots Australia for the first time.
The blend was sold to over 20 breweries and used at brew days across the country. Yakima Chief Hops™ donated $6 per kilogram sold and Cryer Malt matched this donation, coming to a total of $4380 being contributed to the Pink Boots Australia Chapter to further enhance education and career advancement for women in the beer industry.
Steph Howard, Cryer Malt’s Marketing and Sales Manager and Pink Boots Australia Member, says: “Cryer Malt has always been a proud supporter of the Pink Boots Society. We were delighted to be able to do our part and donate funds which will go towards scholarships for Australian women in the brewing industry.”
Both Yakima Chief and Cryer Malt are thrilled to make this contribution to Pink Boots Australia. James Monshing, ANZ Sales Manager for Yakima Chief Hops states: “The Pink Boots Hop Blend is a way for us to show our support to all the amazing women in beer and inspire more talented women to get involved in this incredible industry. We want to thank all the breweries who got on board and we hope that this donation will provide opportunities for female brewers across Australia.”
The 2021 Pink Boots Hop Blend will be virtually selected next month by Pink Boots Society members from across the globe. Yakima Chief & Cryer Malt hope to double the volume sold in 2021 and encourage breweries from across Australia to get involved and support this great cause.
