Western Australia’s Feral Brewing Company has announced it will be closing its original Swan Valley brewpub on 3rd October and moving the pilot kit to its production brewery in Bassendean.

The site, opened in October 2002 by Alistair Carragher and Brendan Varis, established Feral Brewing that has been a pioneer of the contemporary Australian craft beer scene.

In June 2012 the brewery expanded with the addition of a production brewery in the Perth suburb of Bassendean with Nail Brewing, quickly outgrowing that facility and expanding to a nearby larger facility.

In October 2017 Feral was purchased by Coca Cola Amatil.

A statement issued by the brewery renewed the business’ commitment to Western Australia.

“We love WA. No doubt about that,” the statement said.

“It is where we brew our beers, it is where we live; it is our backyard. Western Australia is the heartbeat of Feral Brewing Co. And we don’t intend to go anywhere.

“We continue to go from strength to strength much like the ABV in Biggie Juice (#drinkresponsibly) but as a business and a brand, we’re looking towards the future.”

Co-founder Brendan Varis quietly departed the business last year.

No reason was given for the closure.

The venue will continue to trade until 3rd October and Feral is encouraging anyone that’s enjoyed a beer at the venue over the last 19 years to visit before it closes in five weeks.
