After a hugely successful GABS Hottest 100 last weekend, GABS have now released all the annual sub lists and posters. Not only will you find the Hottest 100 but you will also be able to explore the Hottest 100 Indie Craft Beers, Next 100 (101-200) and the much-anticipated Top New Brews.

The Top New Brews list covers beers released for the very first time in 2021, as they ranked in the GABS Hottest 100. This year, results are spread across an incredible 57 different breweries, of all sizes, with many limited releases grabbing the consumers’ imagination. Beers and breweries on this list are often future contenders for the Hottest 100, they all placed within the top 20% of the 2,238 beers nominated this year and are clearly ones to look out for in 2022.

The breweries setting the trends with most new brews were Balter, Range Brewing and Banks Brewing who each had 5 new releases on the list, followed closely by Moon Dog and One Drop with four each! There were strong performances too from Black Hops, Helios Brewing Co, Young Henry’s, Otherside Brewing, Modus Operandi, Akasha and Revel. It’s fantastic to see the consumer appreciation rewarding the great new brewing from small and new emerging breweries like Bracket Brewing, Grassy Knoll, Spotty Dog and White Bay.

Five beers on the list started out as unique GABS Festival brews and went onto be pack releases. Cheat Code by Deeds, Sourade Blue Blast Berry by Wayward, Blackcurrant Pastille Sour Ale by Currumbin Valley, Moon Light & Pretzels by Working Title and Amplifier by Dainton.

Victoria claimed new brew state of origin honours with 32 beers, QLD 28, NSW 26, WA 10, SA 2 and ACT / TAS 1 each.

Whilst the Hottest 100 was dominated by Australian and American Pale Ales, it was Hazy IPAs and Hazy Pale Ales that were the fan favourites of the year as they dominated the most popular styles. You’ve also got some really big adventurous brews and a strong showing by fruit sours.
