RedDot IP is not for sale. The owner is only selling the brewery in Melbourne.

RedDot was founded in 2007 by Ernest Ng and entered the Australian market in 2015 with help from his daughter Crystalla. Prior to OOVID, Ernest had been stationed in Melbourne for six years. The decision to sell the business is to be close to the family in Singapore.

“I am exiting Australia for several reasons,” he explained. “Prior to COVID, I had been away from my family for six years in Australia – they didn’t expect me to commit so much time to Melbourne. I returned to Singapore just as Australia was locking down. My family was very happy when we were together during lockdown. This convinced me to come home.”

RedDot is only exiting Melbourne. Reddot still maintains the flagship brewpub in Singapore and several franchises.

Export is a revenue stream for RedDot. With the exiting from Australia, Ernest will set up a new brewery in Singapore to maintain the production capacity and to access to bigger overseas markets.

“We mainly export to China, Japan, Myanmar and the Philippines. We had spent a lot to develop the distributorships, but COVID and lockdowns devastated our distributors in those countries. Post-COVID, we will rebuild our distributorships from Singapore. If the brewery remains in Australia, under the current diplomatic tension with China, that major market becomes inaccessible in the foreseeable future.”

“For the last six years spent in Australia, I wish to thank Australia for the friendship and support. During COVID with no income, we still had to pay rentals and wages. I wish to thank the Australia government for the wage support scheme and rental relief; although the financial burden was still substantial.”

RedDot will continue expanding, with a planned production line in Singapore and a whisky distillery, besides reactivating its distributions in China.
