Premium Machinery Group (PMG) has become the first Chinese brewhouse tank & distillery manufacturer to set up a local branch in Australia.

The company, founded in 2010, provides equipment to the brewing, distilling and wine industries.

After successfully launching branches in the USA and Europe, PMG sought out Melbourne local Chris Chrystiuk to lead the Australian arm as general manager.

Over the best part of the past decade Chrystiuk has worked on some of the largest brewhouse and distillery projects across Australia and New Zealand.

He said the new PMG branch in Australia eliminates the need for a middleman, providing a manufacturer able to deal with Australian and New Zealand customers directly.

“In Australia, we’ve often been happy to pay more if we know it’s going to work when it arrives, because we’re so far away from where it’s made,” Chrystiuk said.

“It’s not always realised and understood by many Chinese manufacturers that people are willing to pay a bit more if they can get the right stuff.

“PMG is the best of both worlds where it’s got the price from China but customers are dealing with an Australian team member in a local Melbourne office, who understands the nuance of the Australian & NZ brewing and distilling industries.”

The company has worked across the country on a range of different custom breweries such as Moon Dog World’s huge 100hL steam-heated brewhouse in Melbourne, as well as systems like the three-vessel fully automated 20hL PMG system at Perth’s Limestone Coast Brewery.

“What sold us was the quality of PMG’s manufacture after visiting the factory, as well as talking to the agents from the US and Europe also visiting, as to why they chose PMG,” Limestone Coast managing director Geoff Munday said.

“We have over 60 tanks installed in various brewpubs around WA and love PMG’s attention to detail, willingness to customise and the fact that they have worked with German Brewmasters to influence their designs over the years,” Munday added.

After working in the background for years as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supplier to a range of well-known brewhouse suppliers and manufacturers, PMG Australia is now looking to establish more of its own contacts.

“We’re excited to establish a customer range across all states and work with brewers locally, so they can confidently shop directly with a Chinese manufacturer and know they are being understood,” Chrystiuk said.
