Inspired by a psychedelic vibe from the swinging seventies, Cairns craft brewers are hosting a trip down to funky town this Saturday 16th of November, from 11am at Hemingway’s Brewery Cairns Wharf – and everyone’s invited.
The city’s inaugural What the Funk? Beer Festival is a shaggy showcase of the region’s craft brewers and distillers promising a fun afternoon of back catalogues and tasty brews on the waterfront.
Participants include Hemingway’s Brewery Cairns and Port Douglas, Macalister Brewing Company, Barrier Reef Brewing Co, Coral Sea Brewing Co along with Mt Uncle and Wolf Lane distilleries.
According to CEO and co founder of Hemingway’s Brewery, Tony Fyfe, What the Funk? follows hot on the heels of the enormously successful Cairns Craft Beer Festival held in May this year.
“The response to Cairns Craft Beer Festival showed a strong appetite for showcase events with a laid back vibe.
“This time around we have opted for a wilder and slightly whackier event with one final craft beer celebration before the year ends.
“For the beer lover, we will be showing off some really ‘funky’ beers – think sours, barrel aged and Belgian style beers – along with the usual favourites for those with timid tastebuds,” Mr Fyfe said.
Live music, prize giveaways and delicacies from the BBQ Smoker will add flavour to the day’s activities that get underway this Saturday from 11am.
