Amber Affair fundraiser is back

unnamedNow a staple event on the Aussie beer lover’s calendar, hundreds of beer enthusiasts will gather in Sydney on 20 October 2016 to celebrate Amber Affair, a unique beer tasting event created to raise much needed funds for Sydney Children’s Hospital, Randwick. Brimming with delicious and unique craft beers, this annual event is the perfect excuse for after work drinks, over due catch-ups and a bit of social schmoozing – all whilst drinking great beer for an incredible cause.

Combining the warmth of charitable giving and the ambience of a festival with a comprehensive exhibition of craft beer and wine, Amber Affair will be held at The Argyle at the Rocks on 20 October 2016 from 6:00pm. Attendees are invited to sample a huge range of craft beers, ciders and wines by local Australian breweries.

Brewers exhibiting at the event include Batlow Cider, Endeavour Vintage Beer Co., Premium Beverages, Rocks Brewing Company, Stone & Wood Brewing Company, The Lord Nelson Brewery Hotel, Hemera Estate and Young Henrys.

“Supporting the Children’s Hospital is always a good cause no matter what. I believe this is will be our 7thyear supporting Amber Affair and has always been a fun night,” says Mark Fethers from Rocks Brewing Company.

“When I was a child I spent a couple of months in the Royal Brisbane Children’s Hospital with a suspected blood disease. Now, many years later, myself and several other owners at Rocks Brewing Co also have children of our own (one added 3 months ago and one more this week) and knowing that we can do something to help raise money so that kids can have the best facilities available to them makes us come back year after year.”

CEO of the Sydney Children’s Hospital Foundation Nicola Stokes said “Staff and friends of the Foundation are consistently blown away by the enthusiasm from brewers and beer lovers at Amber Affair. We’re thrilled to be celebrating 15 years of the event, raising much needed funds to support the Hospital and improve the health and wellbeing of more than 61,500 critically ill and injured children who visit our Hospital each year.”

In 2015, Amber Affair was a great success, raising $52,640 to help Sydney Children’s Hospital purchase advanced new equipment; fund clinical trials and research; provide vital training for doctors and nurses; and ensure the Hospital remains at the forefront of its field to provide the best possible care to patients.

Tickets cost just $80 and include a wide range of food, generous samples from every exhibiting brewery and winery on the night, and three ‘take-home’ mugs from your favourite exhibitors.

Attendees can enjoy The Games Room, take happy snaps in the Photo Booth, and have the chance to win prizes on the night by entering a range of fun competitions, with a raffle for one lucky attendee to win ‘Beer for a Year’.
