If the announcement that Good Beer Week will be back again next year didn’t get you checking your frequent flyer points balance, the latest announcement from the Local Taphouse will get you racing to to Webjet.

It has been announced that Good Beer Week will be launched on Saturday May 12 with the biggest SpecTAPular beerfest yet and, as discussed first on Australian Brews News, it will be the first to be held offsite.

The 2012 Great Australasian Beer SpecTAPular will be held in the World Heritage listed Royal Exhibition Building, a venue that has every chance of seeing the SpecTAPular become one of the great annual Australian beer festivals, if it isn’t already.

GABS in Melbourne will feature about 60 of the best Australian and New Zealand brewers brewing a unique beer just for the event. None will have been available anywhere prior to the event.

There will also be a traditional cask bar along with food and entertainment. The Taphouse advises it will be “a classier, educational, craft beer version of the traditional Oktoberfest.”

“Dickheads certainly won’t be tolerated!” they assert.

GABS in Darlo will, at this stage, take place the following Saturday with a selection of 20 of the Taphouse’s GABS favourites so those who can’t make it to Melbourne for GABS can share in the spoils.
