It's all about the beer for Matilda Bay...and the food

Matilda Bay Brewing Company, Australia’s original craft brewer, is helping Melbourne locals find the perfect food partner for their Fat Yaks and their Redbacks through fun stuff with The Pantry and Brewer’s Bite.

Matilda Bay has signed a new partnership with Melbourne institution The Pantry as the beer sponsor for their live cooking shows and Masterclasses. Brewer’s Bite will see the brewers team up with local producers at Prahran Markets for a beer and food matching session in April.

The Pantry Cooking Shows will take food and beer lovers on a five-course culinary journey, focusing on matching Matilda Bay brews with dishes from Australia’s finest chefs that have included the likes of Justin North and George Calombaris. Meanwhile, The Pantry Masterclass will get you even closer to the action and learning the tricks of the trade for which you previously needed a secret handshake. All while drinking a Redback…or a Bo Pils…or a Fat Yak as you chow down on tasty course after tasty course.

The Matilda Bay gang will also be loitering around Prahran on the last two weekends in April (21-22 & 28-29) where market-goers will be able to receive free (yes free!) tastings of fresh, local produce matched to a range of Matilda Bay’s best craft beers.

Head brewer Scott Vincent, whose favourite beer and food match is Redback with mussels and a wedge of lemon, said, “There are still people surprised at how well beer can be matched to their favourite food – but this is what we brewers have been raving on about for a long time! These two activities will help us school Melburnians that beer is just as important a consideration when planning the next dinner party as wine.”

With Matilda Bay well-known for experimenting with beer styles of the world, the range is perfect for a wide range of meals both sweet and savoury. Try a Fat Yak with a chorizo, roasted pepper & goat’s cheese pizzetta, a Big Helga with pork, seeded mustard & cabbage mini pie, or a Beez Neez with some honey-mustard glazed chicken wings. Mmmmm…
