Lowenbrau Keller becomes Munich Brauhaus

Sydney’s Löwenbräu Keller turns 40 this year andhas today been rebranded as Munich Brauhaus The Rocks following a substantial makeover.

The revamped restaurant and bar will adopt the same formula of the original Munich Brauhaus on Melbourne’s South Wharf, as part of owner Urban Purveyor Group’s program of venue rollouts and refurbishments.

UPG promises the venue will have “a year-round Oktoberfest atmosphere, more beers including the just-launched house-brewed Crafty Bavarian range, and a much broader menu”.

The makeover includes a massive extension to the bar area, added lounge seating and a refurbished interior and outdoor terrace.

Urban Purveyor Group chief executive Thomas Pash said Munich Brauhaus is the more modern, big Bavarian bier hall brand that the company wants to take forward as one of its key brands.

“We see a good opportunity to extend the massive bier hall and garden concept to other states,” he said.

“Plus we believe it complements our ten smaller Bavarian Bier Cafes, which are also undergoing a new look and feel and are growing in number and popularity across Australia.”

An ‘Open Haus’ party will be held at Munich Brauhaus The Rocks on Friday, 26 February. The first 100 guests to RSVP will receive a complimentary beverage and Bavarian bites from 6pm-7pm.
